"You're going to marry Ben Solo." My grandfather, Ben Kenobi, pointed to a good-looking man behind me, and I found my eyes being glued on to him. I knew who he was; he was the "Number One Playboy" of our school. My grandpa noticed how I was staring at him, so he snapped his hands in front of my face, making me turn my head to face him again. "Why do I have to marry him?" I asked him, but not because I didn't want to, though that was somewhat one of my reasons, but I actually wanted to see how it would work out between me and Ben. I was confused as to why I'm marrying him. "Well--" He was suddenly cut off by a man who suddenly embraced him in a hug. I recognized the man as Han Solo, Ben's father, and he whispered something to my grandpa, then he nodded in understanding. "We just need our company to work with theirs, and so you have to get married to him, because you're both the next heirs of the companies." I was still confused. Was it really necessary for me to marry Ben? Was there a secret that my own grandfather is hiding from me? (AU) Luke is gone. Kylo Ren is the new Supreme Leader. The Resistance is all but decimated. Now, all responsibility falls on Rey to balance the Force and bring an end to this war. But as a relatively untrained Jedi, she will not be able to find balance in the Force when she cannot find balance within herself. With whispers of Palpatine's return, the Dark side has been growing stronger and stronger every day. Will she be able to defeat them or will the pull to the Dark be enough to turn her and cause a different ending to the war? *This is an alternative universe that takes place just before/during the events of the Rise of Skywalker. There will be some things that could be similar to the film, but I will be changing quite a bit. Or if he's even alive. ----------- "That morning - the one after the night where he didn't come home - when she exited their apartment building, she found his phone lying face-down on the sidewalk. He wouldn't leave her intentionally without his phone, especially in this much of a random spot. She picked it up and her heart immediately broke a little more when it turned on and revealed his wallpaper of her on the beach from their infamous Costa Rica trip. What if Rey had taken Kylo Ren's hand when he offered it the second time, deciding her best chance at defeating Palpatine and saving the galaxy was with him? And then there is a certain group of meddling Force Ghosts determined to test them to their fullest. Meanwhile, Finn has a destiny of his own to fulfill chasing visions of his past across the galaxy. Poe buries himself in work as he tries to forget his failures and forge ahead. Leia attempts to cement her legacy and ensure the future of the galaxy. This fanfic explores a different ending to TROS starting at about the halfway point, when Kylo reveals the truth about Rey in the hangar. It will focus mainly on their story but there will be significant plot arcs that focus on Finn, Poe, Leia, and others. There will be a few augmentations to the earlier story, but I have tried to stay true to the plot up until this point, except for the 16 hr deadline Palpatine gave them. His threat was open ended in my version.
