The sea and the land were never meant to mix. Generations ago, the two worlds were split in half: The sea belonged to the sea folk, and the land belonged to the surface dwellers. Now, with a long-standing resolution in place, they exist side by side, but never as one. It is law. It is tradition. But sixteen-year-old Risa Moriyama has never been one to follow the rules. Drawn to the ocean with a longing she can't explain, she dreams of the world beneath the surface. Of Sea People, of freedom, of a life beyond the one chosen for her. When the tide of change reaches her own life, Risa is left questioning: can she chase the life she craves, or must she surrender to the fate she's originally been given?
