"Go to sleep, Rubina." He demanded softly, noticing the way her hands seemed to shiver in the cold, her eyes lost as she stared at her empty palms.
"I can't. I need to go see Amma, give her the medicine, change-!"
He shook his head, his voice quivering as he cupped her face. "What about you, Angel? Who's going to take care of you?"
The confusion that settles over her eyes is what undoes the last of his barriers, bringing shame down on every crevice of his skin. Her voice is oddly quiet when she says, "No one."
