Narrative Writing: The Alamo

This is an older piece of writing I did for school. We were learning about the Texas Revolution and got the assessment to write a letter as if we were a soldier just before the Alamo took place. I am still proud of what I wrote, and I wanted to share it with you guys too! Keep in mind none of these are my actual opinions; it's just what the prompt asked for.

The second I saw her my skin heated and heart skipped a beat. I knew I had to know who she was. I knew I just needed to be near her. After my horrible marriage I knew getting involved with anyone was the worst thing I could possibly do. The problem was the girl of my dreams was standing right in-front of me partially guarded. She knew my family and knew about my past which should scare me away, but it doesn't it only draws me closer to her. My brother is getting married, I'm the best man, she's the maid of honor. If I screw this up even a little bit everyone is going to have my ass. The second I saw him my mouth went dry. His sculpted arms in that t-shirt covered in ink, my body was telling me to run the other way, to not get involved with this gorgeous dangerous man with a military past. Second No More, a novel
I've dreamed of the perfect marriage ever since I was a little girl: a marriage complete with a hardworking husband while I tended to the home and our children, preferably four little rugrats to call my own. I dreamed of a life filled with laughter, joy, and success, a life we built together. I dreamed of growing old next to my husband, creating a great love story to tell our grandchildren someday. It all seemed so possible. I was raised to be the perfect wife, after all. From the outside, it seemed I had exactly what I dreamed of with the rich, determined husband; the brilliant, gaudy diamond ring; and the beautiful home filled with the hope of future children. Yes, it was all a dream come true. I should have felt grateful, really. The problem is, I also wanted a marriage based on love, passion, and affection, but those are the only things my husband cannot give me . . . . . . because they're reserved for her. Doubts - Regretful ex-Fiancé
Jonathan and Isabella will have a HEA. "You know," he replies, starting to move back and forth in front of me. "I used to ignore the fact that you don't have a name or a very nice background. That you did not attend a great university or whatever. It wasn't crucial to me. But now I recognize you for who you truly are." He comes to a halt and looks at me with contempt. "White trash. Aren't you one? Isn't that how they refer to folks like you?"Jonathan....! Jonathan?! I shake my head at him, completely stunned and shocked by his statements. What? Do you think this...? Do you think this, too? "I should've known better. I thought about it a few times. Thank God, it happened now. It was a lucky escape, right?" She was seen cheating on him. All the evidence was against her. Two of his closest friends were certain of her identity because they saw her in the act. She tried explaining. The story seemed too crazy to be true. When Rebecca learns that her husband is having an affair she decides that she's done being the perfect little housewife and stay at home mom.
