Since she was a little girl Maya had been bullied by her family for being different. She had never understood why she didn't fit in. They laughed at her when she fell, they teased her for her round glasses and they talked about her when they thought she couldn't hear them. Her only friend had been a figment of her imagination and her teddy. One day she couldn't take all the taunting and had decided to kill her family each of them in a different way. She was taken to a mental hospital and ten years later was discharged. The doctors declared her sane. She now has to live in a world she doesn't understand, try and become less awkward around people, and also try not to mention the fact that she killed her family. She has never loved anyone before so when she meets twenty-six year old Jasper she doesn't understand what is happening.
