Guardians of the Dark

Centuries after an ominous mist darkened the earth, corrupting everyone it touches, the Metropolis of Light harbours the last of humankind. Kasen dreams of joining the city's army as a Gatherer - soldiers who collect the Dark to expand the borders while fighting off the corrupted civilisation outside - like his father, but when his aptitude test selects him as a Guardian instead, his dreams shatter. Guardians protect the already collected Dark, although the people loathe and fear them. After all, when working in such close proximity with Dark, you're bound to be corrupted.

Samael is the only person in the Dark Capital to have stepped foot inside the Metropolis of Light, and lived to tell the tale. He also used to have a brother, Kasen, before he was corrupted by the Dark, and exiled from the city. The Emperor of the Dark Capital has a plan to destroy the Metropolis of Light, in which Samael plays a key part. He must infiltrate his old home and release the collected Dark, even if that means going through every Guardian that stands in his way.
