The year is 1792. The idea of the first presidential home and station, envisioned by architect James Hoban, is brought into creation. The home is built and families circulate in and out frequently, much to the dismay of the lonely building. Years roll by until fate brings James and Dolley Madison into its walls. However, a fire begun by British enemies destroy the White House's last chance at happiness. The burning building reflects upon its years from the moment of inception to its final hour in flames. Author's Note: This story is a little different as the original White House is personified. Pay attention to foreshadowing and other elements-- you many find a lot!
