Shadows have protected the Earth for centuries from monsters and have collected Dust. Dust are the children of people they've saved and that have been offered in return. Gavril is a Shadow and Vasya is his Dust, the third born daughter of the king of Sherith. Together, they have to travel across the five kingdoms and kill monsters which seem to be multiplying.
