"I'm not at all who I used to be," Harry took in a sharp breathe, gaping into Ruby's eyes, almost finding it easy to get lost in them, in that moment of time. He studied the way her eyes seemed to dilate instinctually. It was like they had been meant for one another, and that alone made her bones shake beneath her. She looked away reluctantly, not wanting to give him the mere chance of making her fall for him all over again. "I want to be better then I've been. I want to treat you how you deserve to be treated, and I don't want to make excuses for me not being there for you when you've needed me. Say the word and I'm yours, I'll do whatever you want me to, just to prove it to you." His eyes glossed over and his voice quivered slightly, but he ignored this knowing that if he didn't tell her now, he probably never would.
She knew desperately that the moment she would look back into those green orbs of his, that she had by now memorized, she'd melt beneath his touch and the crushing weight of the words that he had just poured out. Her heart tugged wildly in her chest as she contemplated what her next move would be. "I never needed you." She spat out at him, intentionally wanting to hurt him the way that he'd hurt her all those times before. She had known that deep down her heart was still with him, but that didn't change the fact that she couldn't let him break her again. It would be a lot more painful the second time than the previous had been, and that was an unimaginable feeling.
