Disaster struck at midnight. Jennifer Thomas's parents were killed in her grandmother's home where they were staying over the holidays. There were no witnesses- save Jennifer's younger sister Ruby, who had been hiding in the closet when the crime was committed. The killer has not been found, and the police have given up the investigation, but Jennifer has not.
After moving in with her grandmother, with her sister, Jennifer takes it upon herself to solve the case of her parents' mysterious murder, along with the unwanted help of a charming but suspicious stranger. Meanwhile, Ruby makes friends with an odd trio of triplets, all of whom Jennifer suspects to be somehow connected to the so-called "haunted mansion" of the town, and it's unknown owner, whom Jennifer believes to be indirectly behind the murder of her parents.
While searching for proof to support her outlandish theory, Jennifer uncovers evidence that suggests that there is a fourth child of the Williams mansion, the fourth quadruplet, that someone tried to cover up. Could he possibly be the last missing piece of the puzzle that Jennifer must find to solve the mystery of her parents' untimely death? Jennifer will soon learn that to solve her mystery, she must trust no one... not even her grandmother or her sister.
