"There once was a time when our world wasn't succeeding and the government struggled to help us. After years of the board trying to solve our problem with the earth we lived on they came up with a system of five factions. Erudite, Abnegation, Candor, Amity and Dauntless. When they made these 'factions' we got tested for them but if we didn't fit in to any of these or as they say they were inconclusive then the board would put you on the other side of the wall they built, that's if they found out. Over the years everything has changed and the 'inconclusive ones' hide there secret and pick a faction at their fancy. Well sadly my family got kicked out because of something we couldn't help. Yup we were pretty much left there in the wilderness to die."

I never really was made to be in Abnegation. I didn't ever fit in. All of the selflessness - I just couldn't do it. I couldn't forget myself in a matter of seconds then turn to another in need. I always thought of myself and what I would be like when I was older. Would I live in Abnegation? Could I learn to forget myself eventually? No. It just wouldn't happen. Former Amity member, James Wood has always attempted kindness, but failed consistently. Life for James has always been factored down what his test result will be, but when the aptitude test doesn't work on him, his future is limited to one thing only - death. I stand from where I sat on the train floor, and look out the open door of the cart. Below me, all the factions collide into a surge of different colors that form sort of a discolored mess. In general, the faction system has always seemed kind of pointless to me. Ever since I can remember, I always wondered why we were split up into different groups. I always wondered why we had to be five, instead of a whole. But pieces of the answer I look for have found there way to me. For example, I know now why I have these thoughts.
