The measaurement of society is like the foot. Once apon at time, a king's foot was chosen as a standard length of "yay long." But few humans have exactly twelve inches of appendage below their ankle; some never reach it, some have eclipsed it. How many feel the same about their sanity.

If one were to gather together all the people who have ever thought or done something crazy, who would be left? What kind of person would they be? Would they be a shining example of the best of humanity? What, even, does the whole of humanity value, and is sanity in there somewhere?

Einstein's out: he knew he was crazy. Edison's out: he was cruel and scheming, treating assistants and animals as mere subjets to prove his world view.

But who, please, is normal? Who can an insane person look to, to become, to strive for, in the recovery of a self that could have been, but never was?
