In the natural world, there is a balance between good and evil. That balance is maintained by people entirely supernatural. Groups called Allegiances work together to maintain order. The groups are comprised of both Justițuar, evil killers, and Dìonadair, innocent protectors. Allegiances are lead by a prophecy scroll telling them when and where to go to seek a new charge, protect an innocent, or dispose of an evil force. The scroll even foresees Balancer unions.
Caedem and Callum Franks are twin brothers that have been Balancers for more than 200 years in an Allegiance lead by 500-year-old union Trinity and Will Darsseau. Among them Caedem is the only Justițuar; the rest, including his brother, are Dìonadair. Neither Caedem or Callum have yet to meet their unions until the scroll foresees a new Balancer for their Allegiance, Joyanna MacArthur. At first, it appears she may remain unlinked, but slowly it is revealed she to will be a Dìonadair and a union for Callum because Dìonadair and Justițuar unions are nonexistent-Suddenly Caedem starts to wonder are all prophecies eternal?
