The year is 20XX, and human technology has progressed in unprecedented ways. Decades prior, we mastered the art of selective breeding and genetic modification. But with this new technological era comes problems, and the problems took their forms as Vanguards. Vanguards are what some would call the next step in human evolution, creatures possessing powers taken from nature that would seem like the supernatural. Decades ago, Vanguards, realising their intelligence and power, rebelled. The rebellions turned into countless wars that left millions dead or injured.

Sounds terrifying right?

That's where the AVA comes in, or the Anti-Vanguard Academy. The AVA trains teenagers and gives them the task of killing these dreaded Vanguards. But, you may ask, how do mere teenagers have a chance killing these demigod like beings. Essences. Essences are supernatural abilities that suddenly began appearing after the first rise of Vanguards all those decades ago. These abilities can range from god-like to useless, that's why AVA ranks their students from Rank A to Rank E.

These kids are gifted and they are humanities last hope. With these powers, we CAN and we WILL defeat the Vanguards, or die trying.

"They are not worthy, they are cattle, these new humans you covet. The so-called creator has betrayed you, replaced you with these organic imitations. Slaughter them all." It's funny, not in a ha-ha funny way, but a sad, my madness doesn't make sense type of way, Jack thinks, because wasn't he human? Worse still, the voice comes with impulses that are hard to resist. Violence usually ensues. That's why he joined the military. A way to channel his urges into mind-numbing physical effort and war. It works for a time. But alcohol and fighting can only carry on for so long. Finally, he realizes, his only way out is suicide. But when he opens his eyes, he's in the In-Between. The creator has other plans for him, and she won't take no for an answer. Apparently, this isn't his first life and if he doesn't free her from her prison, it won't be his last. His curse is to be reborn without end, without rest, without memory. Only madness. Now Jack is on the run from forces he doesn't understand. It's a new world. The mundane replaced by ethereal artificial intelligence, spontaneous virtual realities, and homicidal bible salesmen. But the creator promises the demon's voice will disappear as soon as he finds the right girl, the right bond. After that, they just have to escape the clutches of those who hunt them, find the Isle of Song, and free the creator from her prison. Or maybe this time, in this life, Jack will figure out what true freedom is. Come along on this action-packed thriller as Jack fights to remember who he is, tries to end an eternal war, and atone for sins he doesn't remember...yet.

Unbeknownst to the students and staff, this realm is plagued by an age-old menace: a powerful demon king bent on conquering the land and casting it into eternal darkness. Stripped of their routines and comforts, the bewildered group soon learns of their urgent mission: to aid the kingdom as its last line of defense. With courage and resilience, they must rise to the challenge, leaving behind the ordinary lives they once knew. In this world, a mystical system has awakened within each of them, bestowing the ability to unlock and harness hidden powers that reflect their unique potential. This system offers new paths to greatness, empowering them to forge alliances, master unfamiliar skills, and confront their deepest fears as they prepare to face the demon king's unrelenting forces. However, not all the students are blessed with equal opportunities or strength. One student, an unlikely hero among them, discovers he has been assigned a lower-tier class-a position with few benefits and even fewer options. Unlike his peers who wield swords, magic, or other mighty abilities, he finds himself restricted to a limited set of skills and weaponry, with only a shield at his disposal. Despite feeling the weight of these limitations, he becomes a symbol of determination and tenacity, relying on strategy, resourcefulness, and an unyielding will to prove that strength isn't always defined by power alone.

"Monsters exist. Heroes died. Hell has taken over the world, put humans into slavery, killed men, women, and children, but there are still warriors, who are recruited. This is our world, where kids at the age of thirteen begin fighting the dangers that face our world; they train and at the age of eighteen they will be put out into the real world. Schools were built everywhere, and kids were moved up based on their age. My world was a little different, my brother and I were trained ever since we could walk; we were put into battle once we reached seven years old. Today my parents are transferring me and my brother to a new school, before we were homeschooled but since my dad and mom are going to be leaving for quite some time they thought it was best for us to go to a real school where we will interact with other groups."
