Caught up in an ongoing war between the last few hundred humans and the armed forces of otherworldly creatures, Eris Hoover has been left stranded after his squad was ambushed by a group of their extraterrestrial enemies. With only a few surviving comrades, Eris must work his way through the barren forest to an ally's secluded cabin, whilst also being targeted by any and all life; so long as they're big enough to fight.
To Eris's dismay, the former forest is much larger than he had once thought, and they must spend days of agonizing travel; all while most of them are injured. Luckily enough, another ally makes her presence known: an extraterrestrial by the name of Gaia. Eris, looked up to by the other soldiers, must make the choice to either trust Gaia or fend for themselves. The burden of saving his comrades' lives weighs heavily on his shoulders, and soon the stress of it all proves too much.

Joined by his new partner, Jenna Jones, he pursues a secretive manhunt for the Soldiers Of The New World, an underground E.H. crime organization that has a hand in all that is illegal, and their mysterious leader: String, who, seemingly, has eyes and ears everywhere. While Adlet and Jenna intend on doing this by the books, their unsavory past with two of String's captains may muddy their judgement, or, more accurately, it already has. As String's ambitions grow beyond just controlling the city's underbelly Adlet and Jenna are forced to take action with an ally he did not desire.
