The Burden of Wings

Esme spent her whole life tethered to the ground by poverty, discrimination, and no opportunity to rise above her station - except one. To escape her reality, Esme runs across the rooftops of the city, delivering messages as a Runner by day and criminal intelligence as a Mask by night.
On the rooftops, she can spread her wings and fly, with no one to tether her to the ground or break her fall. She can be alone on the top of the world, and that's just the way she likes it.
But tensions between city enforcement and the criminal underbelly are leading to growing violence, and children are taking the brunt of the damage. Esme will have to make a decision; keep the life she's always dreamed of, or risk everything to save innocent lives.
