But the company he keeps is continuously distracting him, and Joshua can't control the strange feelings of love and comfort that begin to boil inside his cold, icy heart.

The man pulled her swiftly to her side so that she could expel the rest of the water out through her mouth. "Oh, honey!" the woman gathered the girl up in her arms and squeezed. The girl looked around disorientated. There were strange men and men from her own pack standing around her. "What happened?" She murmured. The woman looked down at her daughter with tears flowing down her face.
