Keaton’s mum is all in support of LGBT rights.
So when Keaton realises he is Gay, he doesn’t bother to hide it from his mum. When things go wrong, Keaton ends up moving in with his thirty-one year old sister.

She has her own family, making it hard for Keaton to fit in. Keaton becomes increasingly secluded and aloof. Rejecting any and all interaction with his sister and her family.

It all changes when the right person for Keaton appears, making him realise that he is better off than some people. He changes Keaton in more ways than one; restoring him to his former glory.
