THIS STORY HAS MOVED TO TUMBLR! Details given in the latest update. A story in which America's favorite Captain gives a new life and family to a five-year-old girl who has suffered well beyond her years... During an intense Hydra-disassembly mission, the Avengers are able to successfully detain countless Hydra personnel, as well as several of the evil agency's test subjects. But in the midst of the harrowing scene, America's favorite Captain is asked to investigate the final holding cell in the experimentation lab. There, he finds a small child huddled fearfully in a corner with a blindfold over her eyes, a complete contrast to the other prisoners who were all super-built, raging with anger, and ready to fight. Over his earpiece, the other Avengers are able to offer Captain scrambled bits of information they've all gathered about this mysterious creature, referred to as simply "Girl." But when she's brought back to the Avenger's Headquarter's to be further investigated, he finds out that there's much more to this little girl's story than anyone had initially imagined. With the seemingly complete elimination of Hydra, the heroic group are offered more freedom and time to make real lives for themselves. But Steve Rogers has formed a soft spot for a certain fellow ex-test subject. Along with the help of his friends, will he be able to help Girl heal and find hope for her future? And what will happen when Girl's dark past attempts to catch back up with her? [Trigger warning: physical, emotional, and sexual abuse of a child.] [Spoiler alert: This fan-fiction will include many unavoidable spoilers to most of/if not all the films in the Avengers series. Read at your own discretion.] [Lowercase of titles intended.] All original writing. Steve Rogers and all other Marvel Universe content belong to their respective owners/creators.

Quintessence: A unique form of energy, specifically life itself. Katrina Hart, young SHIELD agent and mutant. Having been raised by some of SHIELD's best agents and a man with a Captain America trading card collection, her name was one of the top choices for the Avengers Initiative. When a threat from an entirely different world came into the picture, the teen was on the front lines of it all, and she quickly realized she was in over her head. So, along with 6 of Earth's mightiest heroes, she was thrown headfirst into the deep end, and the world was resting on her shoulders. And she was determined to keep it above the surface, whether or not she drowned. (Sorry if this description sucks, it's my first story, so please be gentle. Haha! Constructive criticism is welcome, but again, nothing too harsh, please. Also, I only own Katrina and her storyline, everything else belongs to Marvel. Anyways, I hope you like the story! Will be trying to update weekly.)
