Skylar en Tara Zijn 2 meiden met beide een heftig trauma van een moord die ze hebben meegemaakt. Daardoor hebben ze geen gevoel meer, nouja geen is het verkeerde gevoel. Het enige wat ze voelen is pijn en niet een heel klein beetje ook. Skylar heeft een spirituele gave van de moord gekregen, ze kan namelijk mensen genezen (onder andere een trauma) en ze kan in in die persoons geheugen kijken (ook wel gedachten lezen) Tara krijgt steeds meer last van nachtmerrie's en trowbacks van de moord. Niemand weet er van maar het wordt steeds lastiger om alles te blijven verbergen. Vriendinnen gaan dingen vermoeden waardoor de situatie nog lastiger wordt. Als Tara gaat verhuizen komt ze bij Skylar in de klas en ontdekken ze dat ze hetzelfde trauma hebben. Samen proberen ze het op te lossen, maar ook dat gaat niet zonder slag of stoot...

"I want to help you." His bright eyes sparkle in the moonlight. "You can't help me! You hurt me!" By now, the tears I had been desperately trying to hold back finally slip out. "They hurt you!"
