There's no faster way to get a promotion than by having your superiors turn to stone. Yesterday, I was a novice. I wore a grey cloak that brushed my calves and made the Little Folk in the forest laugh at me as I passed them by. Then one by one by one, my fellow sisters started to look a little grey in the face and clouded in the eyes. Their joints began to stiffen. Their musical voices cracked.
