i quickly throw my earrings on and apply my lipstick. i race down the stairs, my dress flowing behind me. before i show myself i take a deep breath.

"you've got this alli."

i walk down the stairs, ben holding a small container, holding a deep green and blue corsage. a mix of our two favourite colours.

"awh alli, you look-"

ben cuts my mother off.

"stunning. i'm sorry, i had to say it."

we all smile.

"no it's okay, that's what i was gonna say."

i smile and walk over to ben. smiling up at him, he smiles down. the height difference is bad.
