After bargaining with the gods, Kyra is reincarnated into the mystical world of Aest. The memories of her previous life begin to awaken and she seeks revenge on the man who killed her, her former lover. Death and despair lie along his tracks. On her hunt she is joined by a motley crew of would-be heros.A former prostitute, an alcoholic priest and a high Fae join her on her mission. Yet, she does not know if they are to be trusted, nor whether she is capable of trust again. Amongst all their antics, Kyra is burdened with her deal with the gods. The price for her new life is high and the fate of countless lives rests in her hands. As her journey continues one thought keeps ringing through her head: "Is it worth it?"

Every year, Lyra's village gathers beneath the ancient statues of the Fates, offering prayers and sacrifices to keep the creeping darkness at bay. As shadows stir and forgotten magic awakens, Lyra begins to question everything she's been told about the Ruined Kingdom. And, more importantly, about herself. Because the deeper she delves into the mystery of the King and the kingdom he rules behind the walls, the more she realizes: Some destinies are written in blood. And some fates are meant to be broken.
