The story starts with Mirajane Beethoven having an ordinary life with her family in a village called Ethereal Akuma. It is a hidden town in Philippines where demons live, disguising as humans.

Everything was perfect, until one day, something happened that totally changed her life. At exactly 12 am, New Year.

Mirajane, together with her family, celebrated the New Year. But what she didn't know, It's her last day with them. As Mira enjoyed the celebration, she finds time suddenly frozen and only her and her family can move. Three Black Creatures appeared and started going in a rampage. They started killing her relatives and neighbors which made her panic but to her surprise, her family seemed to be unbothered by it. They didn't even flinch or show any fear.

Confusion is visible in her eyes. Even so, she didn't ask a single question about it.

As they started fighting back, Mira realized something.

...that she doesn't know a thing about her family.

Looking back to the days, months, and years they spent together, she remembered their sincere smiles and love for her but still...

She was betrayed or perhaps, was deprived of the truth by them.

They made her looked like a fool who knows nothing.

So, feeling betrayed, she decided to distance herself.

And the unexpected encounter, happened.
