For some reason, just about everybody Jungkook knew was either participating, or telling him to participate.

Participate in what?

A human experiment run by a mysterious scientist literally nobody seemed to know much about. One lucky person will be picked to actually do the experiment, but anyone was welcome to come on selection day if you wish to do it. Also, nobody knows what the experiment is. Just that you get $100,000 for doing it. 

Under immense pressure from his friends and finances, Jungkook decides to at least go to selection day. It's not like he's gonna get picked out of the tons of other people there, right?
