Shadows
"You know it won't go to the West," he said dropping his voice. "Maybe you're wrong. Who knows," she shrugged. Her shoulders had slumped but she had managed to not let any tears spill. "Baum knew what he was doing when he made the West wicked, Mary," he hissed. "The East was wicked in that book too, dumbass," Mary retorted. Jacob's hands went into fists to keep from pushing at his hair. The tree behind them began to shake slightly. The ground gave a tiny rumble. *************************************************** Mary's father recently passed. But she is finding out it might not have been from natural causes... Family adversaries threaten everything while influential other worldly authorities pull the strings. Mary will have to work with an unlikely ally from her childhood to navigate their new found powers and reclaim balance. Meanwhile... one dark soul is climbing the ladder of chaos. Feel free to leave a message. I love comments! As the story progresses you might notice some subtle (and not so subtle) parallels to the Wizard of Oz. As I always advise my students- give it three chapters before setting it aside. Thanks for reading and enjoy! ☺️ This book is in a perpetual state of needing editing. I hope to return to the chapters to add some details. I'm hoping for a sequel as time allows. Oh, the life a middle school teacher... lily had known on that god foresaken day that the tornado was no joke. she knew that if something were to go wrong, it would happen to her of all people so it was no suprise that what they thought would be the coolest experience of their lives would soon turn into the worst. after all the lost lives of not only her friends, but of the close towns to the tragedy, she left oklahoma with a heavy heart and no hopes of returning. she moved to l.a. and pursued a career in singing, completely throwing her dreams of getting to the top of the publishing industry into the trash. that was what she wanted when she had so much love and support. when she had a tight knit group of friends but with only two of them left, she couldn't bear to have any reminder of her old life. she even almost cut off her brother, javier, completely. he was a harsh reminder of everything she had lost and it broke her heart to not be with him together in a town they both had loved. but her love had soon diminished the second her best friends died. she's now just a shell of who she used to be, but she was happy in her own fucked up way. so what happens when she feels the pull of oklahoma beckoning her home? her brother needs her and she could never deny him. if you had told her she'd succeed in stopping a tornado from killing anyone else she loved she would have said "screw you" and walked away in a cloud of self fury. if you had also told her she'd fall in love with a cowboy she would've wanted every detail you could give her.Complete
Just A Single Chance
Everything seemed so surreal. So surreal that I didn't bother to interfere. I let everything go with the flow, to the point that it is hard to let go. So when the tables turned 360 degrees from what I was expecting. It broke me down. Down into pieces that I blamed myself for being so careless. Being childish to not see what was in front of me. And to not appreciate what God has given me. Now, I am standing here in front of her. In a place where God can see me and hear me out. Wishing for one single chance. A single chance to bring back everything from the start. Even if it means, loving her from afar. But it seems, impossible. Because I think God will never hear me out.Complete
Lightning
I never asked to be the person I am now. But a girl's got to do what she simply has to do. Ever wondered why people are afraid of thunder? It's loud, frightening and it makes the roof tremble at the sound of its voice. It's the reason why kids curl up with their mums on a stormy night, and the reason puppies hide under the creek. Yet barely does anyone acknowledges the cause of the thunder; the main reason why it actually exists. But who really is the badass here? It is that quick bolt of light that emerges from the clouds and disappears in the edge of a second. It is the thing that you ought to fear. Because it is fast, silent and most definitely deadly. And that is exactly what I am. I am Lightning. *** Not a super hero book.Complete
