"Now for the winners of the barrel racing competition. In first place. You know her as the horse that came and went with the wind. Who finished in the time of fourteen point three seconds. Bailey Holt! Come on out here, Bailey." The crowd claps and cheers as I enter the arena to claim my prize. The announcer is standing in the middle with a trophy and a wad of cash in his hand. He hands me the trophy and what seems like a hundred dollars, "Why don't you tell us your way of getting this horse to win," He hands me the mic and I gladly take it. "We really don't have a way of training. We just get out there and do it. We practice every day and just see how fast we can go," I hand the mic back and he turns to the stands. "From what I've seen, she could be the next Rodeo Queen." The crowd ripples with cheers and whistles and he turns to me," So. Are you gonna shoot for Rodeo Queen?" He asks putting the mic to my face. "Why not!" I say. He pulls the mic back down and dismisses me from the arena. Rodeo Queen. Not a bad idea. *IN VERY SLOW EDITING!!!! When Lila loses her sister after the race for the title, she moves from California to Virginia, thinking a fresh start will clear the past. It was her sister's dying wish to leave the industry. To top it off, Lila leaves racing knowing holding the title mid-season. What happens when she falls in love with a guy who would risk everything for her? Even knowing they shouldn't be together. What happens when the racing industry comes after her for the title? ~ ~ ~ He licks his lips, raking a hand through his hair. "You know I've had my suspicions about something, but I think that phone call proved it." He pauses, waiting for me to continue. "You race," He says. And when I don't nod, he continues. "I think it's more than that." He takes a deep breath. "Lila, are you the racer who holds the title?" Frustrated, he says, "I opened up to you and I don't think it's fair you aren't doing the same." I scoff. "I didn't ask you to do that." "You didn't deny it." Panic fills my body. My hands shake by my side. Ollie gently grabs my hands. "Lila, I'm not going to hurt you. I'm here for you. Answer me this: Are you the racer who holds the title? Be honest with me. Reel me in and I can help you." I nod, a tear slipping out of my eye. "Lila, please let me in so I can help you. Why is Devin after you?" "He wants the title. The whole industry is pretty much after me." "But why is he the one who is out for blood?" I squeeze his hand. "Maybe this is where your patience comes in."
