A maintenance crew assigned to repair the foundations of an old museum in Amsterdam claim there is something in one of the tunnels below. Such superstitious nonsense! One brave worker decides to enter the tunnel, to show everyone that there is nothing in the dark... is there?

The only possible danger would be to the people themselves. They would not be immune to diseases we take for granted. They would be confused by a civilization that passed them by. Their light-deprived skins would be easily burned by a sun they'd never seen. There shouldn't be any danger to the boys unless an old enemy sends an assassin to settle his vendetta with them. Such an assassin would be more devious and vicious than his master. The boys recognize him only after Salah, their mentor, is struck down in front of them. They have to dig deep for courage enough to survive and find justice for Salah and his family.

But a new leader came out of the ashes and proclaimed they would consider the apocalypse a "rebirth" and proceeded (with his advanced engineering) to clear radioactivity from America and make it livable again. With the help of his crew, he builds a high security city and begins to build out past the east coast. Shortly after he rebuilds NY, he disappears and his advisor rises to power. He is a fair but cruel master (calling himself a Lord) and some people refuse to work for him. These people manage to escape the oppression of the Lord and live out on the wasteland that was once a great country. Some band together to make right communities and others rough it out by themselves, scavenging for a living.

One day, the teenager that was saving the kids suddenly goes missing after a night.
