Toasted Carrots

She quietly peeked from behind the tree to the larger whimpering beast in the forest clearing.
It looked hurt...
Terribly hurt...
The hare crouched down and flickered her snowball coloured ears toward the creation of soft whines and liquid gold eyes. She peered above the bushes observing its wounds to the neck and chest.
A dragon; just like from the books; as red as ripe strawberries with a tree bark coloured chest plate and wings, huge yet torn and burned.
The lizard grunted trying to get up and winced, trembling and slipping under its weight back into the luscious grass. Arrows were sprinkled into its shoulders and neck, some even just dangling off the skin of whatever was left of its wings.
The rabbit took a cautious step forward, watching the beast huff and glance at the warm forest line, leaking sounds of a kingdom in the distance.
