Aki Amaterasu was turning 16 and was living with only her abusive mother. Her mother will not just beat her but will also throw objects at her, which means that Aki can only run away to her room. She must lock her door or else her mother will barge in and beat her. One night after Aki had finished putting a bandaid over the cut on her cheek she opened her window because of a mysterious tapping, when she did she saw it was from her friend who was Kyo Sohma. He told her that she could come and live with him and his cousins, who she had already met, and the eldest cousin could go to court against her mother for custody over Aki.
