Wife occasionally schools me about artistic matters. This piece was inspired by a discussion we had concerning whether we can appreciate great art without being academically propagandized into it. I maintained that "The Starry Night" could be loved by artistic plebians like myself but might also have gotten a C- grade in a 4th-grade art class. Wife, an artist herself set me straight, detailing all the techniques and expertise employed by the artist to make his work special. Whatever, I loved it before and after the schooling. Jimt
