In the past year, the life of one Ty Smalls has been turned upside down.
Following her father's untimely death, she's sent to California to live with her mother's new family, and left to deal with her grief on her own. She doesn't want to go - she'd rather have stayed with the nuns back home - but she's beginning to understand that kids don't really get a say in these things.
When she begins to get along with her little half-brother, getting themselves into and out of all sorts of trouble, she starts to think that maybe starting a new life here won't be so bad.
With loss still haunting her, will Ty be able to juggle making new friends, reforging family bonds, and starting her life all over again?
