The violent Neighbor. A scum, a great enemy with a purpose to kill.

First you come down with a fever. As you struggle to keep your strength and as your skin fades to a pale thinness, you lose your mind. The Neighbor then leaks blood from the body, making sure that no matter how much is replaced, the body fails. Suddenly, you begin to struggle to even breathe. The Neighbor drowns you. It's final blow? It's a coin toss that ends your life with violent shaking, or stopping the heart. The Neighbor leaves your body and moves onto the next.

Sam and Fara are caught in the midst of The Neighbor's appearance to society. Afraid for their lives, they are not to breathe, nor be in the presence of anything that has been affected by The Neighbor.

Three hundred years after the fall, the known world is beginning to regain a semblance of order, with the sword the ultimate power once more. Orphaned, plague-marked and mistrusted by the community he lives in, a boy must come to terms with the fact that he is different from everyone else, but is soon the focus of unwelcome and deadly attention. Separated from her father, a young girl has to learn to survive in a foreign land haunted by tribes of ghosts and roving bands of piratical thralls to a sadistic King. A watcher keeps lonely vigil from within a fortress that has been under siege for hundreds of years, while a soldier dies for the twenty-third time, and dies again while wondering if he is going mad. First started in 2015, this story is at 50k+ words, but was removed when a plotting hiccup was encountered. I now intend to split it into three parts, and this is the complete Part 1. Forced to flee her home, Quinn watches her city devolve into insanity and bloodshed as it is taken over by the dead. Now she must struggle to survive in this terrifying, lawless world. Survival is difficult even with the help of friends, and the undead aren't the only things to worry about.

The year is 2047. It's been almost 35 years since the U.S. went over the Fiscal Cliff, indirectly leading to the world's first encounter with the undead. It's been roughly ten years since the spread of the infection was suppressed, thanks to the help of outside powers. The world is a poorer, rougher, stranger place: mandatory armed populations; shooting a zombie, more popularly known as a maniac, on the way to work is a part of life; anti-maniac training starting in childhood; and special armed divisions of the government specifically designed for enforcing laws surrounding undead encounters. For Al McDermot and his friends, growing up in this time is even harder, as they discover the virus the world supposedly had a handle on has mutated, unleashing a whole new, more dire and advanced threat.
