What Really Matters: Poems About Love, Loss, & Trauma by BruceWhealton

This is a collection of poems inspired by love, loss of love, and other tragic and traumatic events that began in late July of 2000 - so some poems are about love and others about the loss of that love. This is my autobiography in poetry form. I had fallen totally and completely, madly in love with Lynn Denise Krupey. Tragically, she was born with a terminal genetic illness. At the age of just 33, in July of 2000, Lynn was fighting for her life... and I felt powerless. I also had survivor's guilt. A fuller account of my life can be found in other books of mine. After the poems about love, there are poems with titles like "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder," "Fugue State," and "Lost." Once you join your life with another person, you become one and so the loss of that person (or in my case along with other traumatic events) can feel like one has no sense of a home or a personal identity. I never actually had a fugue state disorder, but it is a great metaphor for what I did experience. From Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fugue_state), we have the definition of a Fugue state: a mental and behavioral disorder... The disorder is a rare psychiatric abnormality characterized by reversible amnesia for one's own personal identity, including the memories, personality, and other identifying characteristics of individuality. The state can last days, months, or longer. A dissociative fugue usually involves unplanned travel or wandering and is sometimes accompanied by the establishment of a new identity. It is a facet of dissociative amnesia, according to the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). After recovery from a fugue state, previous memories usually return intact, and further treatment is unnecessary ... Fugues are precipitated by a series of long-term traumatic episodes.

~Even on my worst day, did I deserve, Babe, all the hell you gave me?~ - Prithvi Saxena. Prithvi Saxena and Vipun Sengupta are the two names people hate to take together. And there's no one to blame but these two thoughtless lovers and their impulsive decisions. One wrong decision after another, one accusation after another, one wounding move after another, one desperate attempt after another, one lie after another, one memory after another, one heartbreak after another, one tear after another and both the boys are left aching for their irreplaceable another. Love. That was what they always shared. Then why hate defined them more? Lies. Career worries. High hopes. Break-ups. Regrets. Griefs. Public interferences. Helplessness. Egos. Lies again. And they were left ruined. Prithvi and Vipun are two hard shells needing each other but preferring to break than bend. And they did. They broke, scattering themselves to pieces which pierced them and made them bleed again. Medicine? Each other. But will these two star-crossed lovers let go of all the superficial things and heal each other by holding onto something as raw as the love they share? ~You wear the same jewels that I gave you as you bury me.~ - Vipun Sengupta. (Before I'm accused of plagiarism for no apparent reason AgAiN (if not self-created personal grudges), I'd like to mention that both the lines are from Taylor Swift's, my tears ricochet.) *** FICTION. FICTION. FICTION. ╭∩╮ In uppercase for those teeny-tiny brains who don't seem to get it.╭∩╮ If you don't like the concept, or are homophobic/character-phobic/love-phobic/hate-phillic/with reason love-phobic/with reason hate-phillic -- don't read, don't vote, don't comment. That's what Wattpad tells you to do. Remember to follow through the guidelines of the platform you are on. A needful reminder: Cyber-bullying is a crime. ~I hate the word homophobia. It's not a phobia. You're not scared. You're an asshole.~ - Morgan Freeman.

GROUNDHOG DAY mixed with SIXTEEN CANDLES and a splash of DOCTOR WHO. A boy forever reincarnated as himself meets his soulmate for the 200th time, but can she solve the puzzle and break the curse to make herself his last? ***** Martha Beckett's life is over, or so it feels after her father moves her from California to Illinois in the middle of her junior year of high school. But on her first day in her new school, she finds a peculiar boy waiting for her. James is cute, friendly, and obviously too good to be true. Her skepticism proves justified after he confides in her his secret: after he dies, he is reincarnated as himself to live his life again and again and again... Retaining all knowledge and skill acquired in his previous lives and with a general understanding of future events, James is effectively superhuman. And while Martha enjoys the inherent perks of associating with such a boy, she comes to learn of the despair and exhaustion underneath it all. With no permanent consequence or hope of release, James struggles to stave off nihilism with Martha his one tether to humanity. FOR THOSE WHO DON'T BELIEVE IN LOVE SONGS is, in fact, a love story, albeit a complicated one. Can Martha reconcile with the fact that James has loved hundreds of other Marthas before her and will most likely love hundreds thereafter? Is James' choice to engage and confide in Martha irresponsible and selfish? Would she be better off living her life unaware of the cosmic freak who has loved her for millennia? She's dead by the third chapter. Okay, it's a bit more complicated than that. Okay, it's A LOT more complicated than that. Renata wants nothing more than to pay her bills through her mildly boring office job and figure out whether she is still in love with her best friend. The latter half of that desire is just a sneak peak into her messy life-and it's only getting messier. Considering the paranormal world she is about to dive head first into, she will come to realize that figuring out her heart may just be the easiest part of this journey. Well, the endless supply of supernatural hotness in this story may beg to differ-but that's besides the point. Either way, it's gonna be a killer time ;) EXCERPT Chicken tacos it is. Right as Renata grabbed the ingredients, she turned to put them next to the stove, where a clean, plastic cutting board awaited. But as she moved, she was confronted by a stranger, an intruder, standing mere inches from her. Before she could scream, he was on her, slamming her against the fridge. Her back flashed with sharp pain. Her eyes pricked with fear as she drank in his uncovered face. Deeply tanned skin. Ruby red eyes-ruby red eyes? Thick, slashing eyebrows. Flat, broad nose. Buzzcut. Handsome. That was as far as she would go in complimenting him considering this guy held a knife to her throat. When he spoke, his voice came out like thunder. It held a thousand threats and a thousand secrets. It held promise of pain if provoked. "If you scream," he warned, mouth pulled in a slight snarl, "this ends quickly." She didn't dare nod against the blade. He noticed and amusement lit up for just a second in those devilish eyes. Oh, whoever the fuck this was, she already hated him. Considering her predicament, panic was the most prominent emotion coursing through her at the moment. "Good." He removed his hand "Now you're going to answer my questions." °°MATURE AND EXPLICIT CONTENT OF ALL KINDS, AND I MEAN ALL KINDS°
