Every year I release a new installment of poetry, prose, flash fiction, and other short pieces of literature that have accompanied me through my days, along with the occasional photo to help tell the story. This year is no exception. Let these words guide me through the darkness and bring me back to the light.

Some pieces are from years ago, while others are recent. I've named this collection Whispers of the Soul because each piece captures my curiosities, the feelings I longed to experience, realizations, and deep reflections on the world around me as I grew up. Now, at 19, I feel a bit more confident in sharing these pieces-both what I've already written and what's yet to come. I'm posting this looking for some feedback. Any constructive criticism will be greatly appreciated. Writing has always provided me with solace, by helping me to sort through and frame my emotional experience. During one of the more difficult times in my life--recognizing a toxic marriage and leaving--I used writing to understand what was happening. The poems, short stories, and essays here reflect my fragmented journey toward mental health. Works of art, they are not. However, I hope they can help others with their own journeys, even if only to provide comfort in knowing that they are not alone. Trigger Warning: The following includes depictions of suicidal thoughts, depression, and anxiety.

I've been through my own struggle, whether it was created in my head by way of prolonged sadness or bitterness/resentment, or if I was struggling with things I had no control over like failed friendships, a broken heart, or family drama. This is my advice to you based off of my life experiences. Along with pieces of life experience advice I've included poetry and spoken word pieces from different perspectives and I try to break down life into beautiful words that people can relate to and see that we all struggle- you're not alone and we are each so valuable.

Through a camera lens, you can capture certain moments of life. This book will be a collection of short stories and poems that will be based off of photos that I have taken. If a short story or poem has themes that some may find sensitive or triggering, this will be mentioned at the start. All photos will also be displayed at the start, so you can view the photo before/while reading. These are semi short poems that helped me think about what I was feeling within relationships and myself. I hope these help others or inspire them to not bottle up everything, it will eventually eat you alive. I have plans on publishing them but thought I would try it out on here first. Please don't hesitate and give feedback! These are very personal and should not be used as ammunition. I started writing this late 2023 and until now 2024. This book is not yet complete!
