Iris is a seventeen year old girl with an illness that has confined her to the walls of her home since first grade. With an illness that could kill her if she gets overly excited or stressed, Iris has not been able to live the normal life of a child or teenager.
She has spent most of her time painting in her room and helping her mother around the house, never allowed to hang with friends, watch television or read simply because of the risks of getting herself too worked up. Painting has always been her outlet, something she can do without any risks. But her stir craziness from never leaving the house has gotten to her. She has a yearning to see the world outside and do things she has never been allowed to do before.
In her pocket is a list. A very powerful list, that she sees as her life. A list of 100 things, some crazy, some wild, some unusual, and some seemingly impossible, but to her, each one of them is something she must accomplish before her illness causes her body to shut down. Iris sets off on an adventure of her own to complete them.
She is used to going about everyone on her own, dealing with everything herself, but the world works in mysterious ways. And for Iris, it has decided that she won't be going at this crazy list on her own. What has always appeared impossible, may just become possible.
She smiles and laughs like there's no care in the world. She lives everyday seeming to be normal. Hiding what happened to her. Hiding what tore her apart. Hiding her pain. Her smiles and laughs never reach her eyes though. Some smiles are real, some laughs are real. She looks happy, she wants to be happy, but she can't because it comes back to her like it happen yesterday that brings her back to sadness, to loneliness, to hide her truth from everyone.
Iris is 17 years old. She had a rough past and is trying to live normal on her own. She works to keep a roof over her head and get back into school. She only needs one more year of high school. This will be the first time back into school in a few years and she has forgotten how it was like to be in a school. But what happens to her she does not expect.
