Ashlyn and Emery share a secret: they're possessed. And they both want out. Out of the safe houses they're trapped in.
For the past seven years, demons have overrun the earth, possessing and extinguishing most of the human race. What's left of the population has taken refuge in safe houses, hiding from the horror that exists in their new world.
Ashlyn is trapped in Deliverance, a safe house governed by a cult. There, the leader has manipulated the people to believe that Ashlyn is their savior. As fabled, she will guide them into the next world, away from the one polluted by demons. But in order to do that, she must be sacrificed.
Emery is eager to defect from her current safe house, but she can't leave without her brother. However, when the community witnesses Emery destroy a demon with her bare hands, she's chased away and cursed as a monster.
As secrets unravel and betrayals arise, both Ashlyn and Emery hold the key to ending the age of the demons. And as the line between safety and possession blurs, they will have to confront the darkness inside in order to combat the enemy before them.
