Astren City, and all surrounding area, have the highest crime rate in the northern part of the country. Dozens of crime families constantly trying to take the throne, as well as corruption lurking around every corner, do not aid in that fact at all. Salem Heart's father, Jack Heart, happens to be the Astren City Chief of Police, a title which holds a lot of weight and a rank that claims even more power. He's well respected, and amazing at his job. That said, greatness is expected of Salem as well. Of course that isn't a problem, Salem will always be loyal to the law. He was raised by it, and upholding it is his future career aspiration. He thinks he has his life figured out. The fact that his ex-boyfriend comes from a notorious crime family, and has been arrested several times by Jack's own department, doesn't matter. Salem's passed that, he's over Atlas Marino and he always will be. He will ignore that scratch in his record, and cover it up with his success. Salem is offered a job to help with an investigation that could benefit his future career astronomically. He thinks it's a win-win situation, he gets the recognition he desires, and the streets will be that much safer. It's all black and white to him, easy to understand. He likes the order, and he craves the accomplishment of defeating bad with good. It's all black and white. Until he gets caught in the grey. Season 1 complete! Book 2 (Rhapsody) complete! It was a new start for her, at least that was what her dad had told her when they moved from LA. A new start, with a new odd group of friends and her past mistakes still haunting her every move. Mistakes which suddenly seemed a lot harder to escape in such a small town; where the wrong person could be just around the corner, or the right one running full speed in the opposite direction. Turns out, it wasn't a new town which gave Lexi a chance at a fresh start, but rather colliding with Pope Hayward two weeks before the hurricane. The only question remains as to whether or not she can handle the life she's been offered, especially when a certain blond comes into the picture, threatening to cut the final string which holds her together. ---------------------- Smut warning LOL. Hi! I got this idea really randomly and just decided to write this book. It's a little different from the actual show, and there are definitely certain themes which make the story line a bit more graphic so viewer discretion is advised; definitely a spicer version of the Netflix show if you get what I mean. Just want to preface it by saying that there will be some triggers, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to catch them all because I've only lightly edited this (so if there are some minor plot holes just ignore them LOL), but the main ones will be sexual assault, suicide, physical/verbal abuse, and mental illness. [COMPLETED] "Shoot," Joey mumbles, letting out a string of profanities under his breath. We turn around to find a group of men, all with guns, standing where we just came from, and they look pissed... probably because they were forced to run through this tunnel after us. "Thought you could get away, didn't you?" The man who I saw before asks. His husky voice booms in the hollow tunnel, reverberating off of the dirt walls. His voice sounds familiar, and a realization strikes me. It sounds like the man from my dream. I remember him holding a gun and wearing a blue suit, smiling evilly at me. "Leave us alone," Joey says, sounding dangerous and snapping me out of my thoughts. The levity of the situation hits-we need to get out of here. I look around for a route of escape and thankfully I see a light, literally, at the end of the second tunnel. I let out a small, almost inaudible, gasp and nudge Joey. He looks at me and I subtly gesture with my head to the second tunnel. He glances at it and immediately we are on the same page. His jaw sets and he looks at the group. The man speaks up again, chuckling darkly-a sound I will never forget and will be permanently etched into my brain, "You can thank your father for starting this mess." -------------------------- Liza was a normal teenaged girl, living the average life that an eighteen year old girl should be living. She had good friends, good grades, a happy family, a loving boyfriend, and an overall content life, seemingly having everything a person could ask for. However, when she somehow gets thrown into the mix and is in the crossfires of a brutal mafia war that she has no business being a part of, things spiral out of control and she has to do whatever it takes to regain her freedom. In this hectic adventure of gun fights, torture, bank robbing and intimidating mafia men, Liza has to face it all, putting her average life on the line in order to defeat the bad guys and go back to her normal way of living.Complete
