Becoming the Rift

Once a very long time ago Alethi was a calm and quiet kingdom. It ruled alongside the kingdoms resigning on earth, there sister colonies. Connected by string of portals - known as rifts - to bring the two worlds together. They prospered together Alethians and Humans. But the humans were jealous petty little creatures. They grew jealous of the Alethian brethren for having possessing abilities that humans could never hold. No matter how hard to try to breed the Alethians powers into their own genetic lines or chemically engineer their powers nothing every worked. So the humans raged a war named the Great Rift War, killing the Alethians with weapons made out of gold and sage. And so the King of Alethi gave a proclamation. To close all portals to the Human world and cut off all communication with the human species.
Millions of years passed and the tale of the Alethians and the kingdom vanished until not a single human remembered their existence. Until a Queen tried to murder her sister.
