'I am the thing that goes bump in the night. I am the thing the world needs protection from. They think the Five have me contained. But all it takes is one human to bring evil to its knees.'

Saint Bartholomew's Academy has a secret. One that Faith is determined to discover, even if everyone from the headmistress - her own aunt - to the junior students want to keep it from her. Only the strange guy she keeps running into seems to have any interest in telling her the truth, but can she trust a guy called Brax?

Talk of the Demon Mascot fills the halls, every story a warning against...simply existing in the same building as him. Students burst out into hysterical sobs. Cries to chill the blood echo through the draughty academy. Nuns talk to themselves, jumping at shadows. And Brax is there through it all, his steely eyes watching everything.

Brax, who draws Faith in like a moth to flame. Who has a similar draw to her. Brax, the very reason for all of St Bart's secrets. But even then, Faith can't stay away.

But there's one more secret left to discover, and it's only a matter of life and death.
