Samantha is down on her luck, stuck within a deep rooted financial crisis. Living with her two best friends Louise and Marcus who are giving up on any help with rent money or living costs. Sadly Samantha cannot work due to health reasons and has struggled with her mentality ever since getting extremely unwell with an incurable illness. Although she is not terminal she is destined for a very slow life without much time to recover between bouts of heavy depression and illness.

This bad luck seems to change when she discovers a rare artifact shimmering on the streets of London during yet another attempt at finding a job. When she is let down gently by the management, she steps outside to find a very strange item that is shining brightly at her feet. Upon inspection she notices there is a very ornate pattern on it. Putting it into her pocket she moves on and looks for a way home not thinking much more on it.

Out of the blue an old lady turns up at her door and asks for the object back warning her of the bad luck it has. Samantha kindly goes to fetch it, hands it over and only when she closes the door does she wonder just how this lady has found her home?

Upon telling Louise and Marcus she is laughed out the room and disbelieved. However, when one of them notices something very unpredictable happening within their room they start to very quickly believe in what Samantha was saying!

A witch trial unfolds, driven by unreliable witnesses and mounting suspicion. It seems all hope is lost for Verando, already condemned by the relentless court. Nicolas knows time is slipping away, and if he doesn't act quickly, the person who might hold the key to the truth could be lost forever. He must move swiftly to save Verando and uncover the real story behind Helen-a mysterious woman who has appeared with answers he's not ready to hear. Helen claims she's from the future and holds a ring that Nicolas recognizes all too well: his own. Desperate and pressed by time, she pleads for his help, insisting she's here to change the course of history. But how could someone travel through time? It sounds like myth, an impossible legend. Yet, the ring is undeniable proof that her words may be truth. The pressing question remains: What does she want? Why has she come now? And what role does she play in the fate of Verando-and in Nicolas' own future? She's an enigma he can't afford to ignore, but everything about her presence feels like a trap. As the court's verdict draws near and the witch trial reaches its climax, everything Nicolas and his allies have fought to protect hangs in the balance. Helen's persistence suggests she might hold the key to something far greater than saving one person-perhaps the means to prevent disaster altogether. But with the seconds ticking away, Nicolas must decide whether trusting her will be their salvation or their downfall.
