“A ship in a harbor is safe, but that’s not what ships were built for.” The sea was calling out to Clementine. Never in her life had she felt such a strong pull towards something until she moved to East Francis Island and suffered a small accident where she nearly drowned. Now it seems she can’t escape pull of the tides, or forget the mighty roar of the waves. She tries to drown out the call of it with school work and walks around town, but something seems to be up with her new friends too. Soon she’s thrust into an adventure she expected or asked for. She uncovers secrets about her family, herself, and her fate. Can she handle it all or will she let the currents drag her down?

A mermaid named Sirène, whose job as a mermaid is to guide those who have died at sea to rest their souls and not be trapped. She typically finds sailors whose ships have sunk, and pirates and convoys alike. Her personality is one of seriousness, and she does not express herself by facial expressions very often. She does sung lovely tunes though, ones of the sea and winds, not ones meant to lure anyone to their doom. She seldom spends time with other merfolk and prefers to be on her own. She is however very curious of the various emotions humans possess and their intensity, since she does not feel these. One day, while Sirène was staying near Pointe de Pen Hir, a dangerous cliffside that plunges right into the ocean. Looking upwards by chance, she saw a human, a man, standing dangerously near the edge of the rocks. The wind blew harshly and she could only watch and wait as he toppled over the edge and feel towards the ocean. She saw no fight in him as he fell. ________________________________________________________________ This is a fantasy story with my mermaid OC that I started making back when I was in middle school. I've used her character to help me through tough times and I am revisiting her. I want to make sure I have a place to remember her story, and make it a happier one than before.
