Graham Poncet is never happier than in the summer. Getting away from the cutthroat New York City that reminds him of his deceased father, the three months a year he spends with his family at their beach house in Bay Head, New Jersey are a welcome breath of fresh air. His best friends live there, his mother is happier there, and the beautiful and enthralling Bianca Russo, along with her rich family, have just moved in next door.

Graham is in heaven...until he isn't.

As Graham becomes closer and closer to Bianca, he realizes there is a price to pay for falling for the new girl in the close-knit town of lifetime Bay Headers. Especially when he realizes that the rumors may be true and her family may not be as perfect as they appear to be.

By the time summer ends, Graham finds himself estranged from his best friend Karis Stephenson, who he now realizes may have loved him as more than a friend all along, and heartbroken, as Bianca ends things with him after they have an explosive fight on the last night of the summer.

Not long after, tragedy strikes the Poncet family, Bianca disappears without saying a word to anyone, and Graham is left more confused and hurt than ever.

Years later Graham has finally put himself back together...until one day in the university library during his first semester of college when he sees Bianca for the first time since their breakup and her disappearance. Except she has no idea who he is and her name is Vicki Barrone.
