I've never quite figured out how one girl managed to wreck my life so badly. Although, to be fair, I played a large hand in the life-wrecking myself. But not like her. Never like her. Indigo. I remember when she was just a shadow in my life; a wall, a piece of furniture, a name. A spectre in the world of my existence, nothing more. And in one night she thunders in like a freight train, wrecks herself on a brick wall and leaves me to pick up the pieces. For a few glorious weeks, she was everything. And then she left again- though never again would she be merely a shadow. It took but one night to start it all. One brisque night, one chance glance out the window, and one noose.

She woke up in a hospital bed, her mind a void. There was no name to speak of, no memories to claim her as their own. Only a name on a paper, a face in a picture, and a haunting sense that she didn't belong in this world. Hazel, they called her. But who was Hazel? The girl who woke up didn't know where she came from. She didn't remember her life before the crash. The accident that stole her memories also erased the life she once knew, leaving only nightmares of a man and a woman whose bloodstained faces haunted her dreams. Their deaths were brutal. Violent. And somehow, they were tied to her. She could feel it. In the hollow spaces of her mind, in the way her heart raced when she saw their faces in old news articles, and in the unnerving whispers she heard in her dreams. A search for answers began, one that would reveal a dangerous truth. Hazel was not who they said she was. She wasn't just a girl in foster care. She was the daughter of two powerful, dead parents, caught in the deadly web of a world she never knew existed. A world of mafia bosses, ruthless betrayal, and blood-soaked revenge. And someone-someone she trusted-was responsible for their deaths. Her parents' killers had been lurking in the shadows for far too long. And now, it was time for Hazel to find them.
