this is a short story based off a magic the gathering card my husband liked, we wrote this together and he is too shy to show anyone but i think we did a pretty good job! so the inspiration card was the Pale Rider of Trostad, the artist is Seb McKinnon and my husband LOVES his art.

Alera lost her mother early in life and was raised by a strict king for a father and the many nursemaids who crossed themselves before touching her. Even a kingdom over, the whispers of the canny princess the people feared as fae reached royal ears. But they thought to use her to their advantage...to put fear in their own people's hearts and make them bend the knee.
