Once a year a tournament is held. The stakes are real, the battles are real, the players are real criminals. Sixteen teams, one hundred and forty-four convicted prisoners, but only one team can win. With the pieces scattered across the board like dice, you never know who your opponent might be. A word of warning; don't lose your King. © 2020 Poppisiede

I fall to the floor, but with enough concentration I manage to stand. "Why are you doing this?" I hiss, struggling to keep my balance. "Most people think the most important piece on the chess board is the king, or the queen or the rook; some even think it's the bishop." "You killed him, didn't you?" "I like to think it's the pawn." He taunts, coming to stand in front of me. "Underestimated and yet the most dangerous...with a little patience it can become anything. Quite interesting, don't you think?" "I'm not in the mood for your little mind games." "Will you do as you're fucking told or are we going to have a problem?" He asks with barely restrained fury, his eyes holding mine captive, making it clear that I'm supposed to give him an answer. "I guess we're gonna have a problem."
