Brianna nettles lives in a world where there is a government who is good to their people. Earths society now lives underground and has lived this way for almost 1000 years. The only people who have seen what they call "Topside" are those who go to Maze Academy. True to its name, the academy lives inside a giant maze full of monsters, dangerous traps, moving walls, and more. At the age of 14 all children are required to attend this academy. Only those who complete the maze will be given the option of freedom to topside, or to return to their families. those who do not complete the maze by the time they turn 21, are taken to whats known as "The Unknown". 99% of those who complete the maze choose to return with their families due to fear of Topside. as nobody knows whats lurking up there. As her 14th birthday draws near, Brianna nervously begins preparing herself for what may come her way.
