The boy responded with silence, hiding behind his father as the girl howled. The howls soon turned into quiet sobs and gasps for breath as the group left her among the ashes and dead bodies, the red-hot iron left in the dirt.
"I'm sorry.." The boy murmured as he walked away, guilt already weighing him down.
