Clarity is simply a kind, gentle, young girl, in a harsh, brutal, old world. In her village of Prador, 18 year-olds have the ability to summon their familiar. Clarity's family is known for their more small and cowardly familiars. When Clarity summons her familiar on her 18th birthday, she is shocked to say the least.
Outside of the forest surrounding the village, other nations are constantly fighting. Arguments and wars are breaking out almost every day. When nations start to lash out at one another, and Prador, unexpectedly, tensions rise as an unseen threat is forming.
Clarity must take her familiar to figure out what is going on before everything is destroyed. Along her path she makes friends and allies, people she trusts. She learns to make friends and make a second family with them during their long journey.
But two questions remain.
Who is causing all of this mass destruction, and who isn't who they claim to be?
