They're job is to reap someone's soul when they die, but they're new leader had different plans. He makes the Grimms reap the body, mind, and soul of the living. He wants complete control over the living and the dead. Ember and her friends were chosen to stop him long before they were born, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they'll be able to.
